StatSprout is small. Four roles are scoped and none is filled — which means the first person into any of them helps decide what it becomes.

Applications are handled by conversation, not by a queue — there are not enough of us for a queue. Email is the whole process, and a real person reads it.

Four ways in, all of them real work

These are scoped, not filled. Commitment is written as a range because nothing has run long enough for us to promise a number.

Student mentor

What you would do
Sit with a younger student while they work through a course, and answer the question behind the question.
Useful to have
You have finished the level they are on. That is the whole requirement.
Commitment
An hour or two a week, once workshops or study sessions begin

Workshop assistant

What you would do
Help run an in-person session: set up the activity, move between groups, keep the data collection honest.
Useful to have
Comfort with a room of students. Statistics knowledge helps but is not the point.
Commitment
Per session, once workshops start running

Content contributor

What you would do
Write or review lessons, worked examples, checkpoint questions, and the feedback a wrong answer gets.
Useful to have
Teaching experience, or a statistics background, or a very good eye for a confusing sentence.
Commitment
Project-based, at your own pace

Community outreach

What you would do
Introduce StatSprout to a school, library, or programme that could use it, and help us understand what they need.
Useful to have
A connection to a place that teaches, and the willingness to make an introduction.
Commitment
Occasional, entirely flexible

What happens next

Four steps, and the first one is an email

  1. Write to us

    Say which role interests you and roughly what you can give. A paragraph is plenty.

  2. We talk

    A short conversation about what you want out of it and what we actually need right now.

  3. Prepare

    We walk you through the material you would be working with, and the safeguarding expectations for anything student-facing.

  4. Contribute

    You start on something real and small, and we adjust from there.
